LED Video Wall for a Leading
Aged Care Provider

Southern Cross Care needed to transform a high-traffic foyer into an active communications space. PinnacleLED delivered a 135-inch Sharp COB LED video wall, installed, commissioned, and handed over in a single day.

The Challenge

The foyer of an aged care facility carries more communicative weight than almost any other space in the building. Families form first impressions here, residents transition between private and community spaces and events regularly bring larger audiences into a compact entry area.

Static imagery and conventional LCD displays were no longer adequate as they were too difficult to keep up to date. The client needed a solution capable of running full-motion video, dynamic messaging, and branded content across the full width of the entry wall, with a warm aesthetic.

The client's primary objectives were:

  • Establish immediate visual impact and reinforce the organisation's brand identity at the point of entry.

  • Deliver dynamic content including full-motion video in a high-dwell environment.

  • Activate the foyer as a flexible communications asset during events and community gatherings.

  • Achieve this within a premium interior that demanded aesthetic integration, not a commercial retrofit.

Our Solution

Fine-Pitch COB LED Display with Integrated CMS

PinnacleLED specified and installed a Sharp PRO N COB LED video wall, a 3,000mm × 1,687mm (135-inch equivalent) fine-pitch display with 1.5mm pixel pitch and 1920 × 1080 Full HD resolution.

COB Technology

COB (Chip-on-Board) LED was chosen over conventional SMD technology for a specific reason: viewing distance. In a foyer where visitors stand within two to four metres of the display, COB's embedded diode structure eliminates the visible grid pattern that becomes apparent on SMD panels at close range.

COB also delivers improved anti-glare performance and greater physical durability, both relevant in a high-traffic public interior. The Sharp PRO N COB series was selected for its combination of visual quality, reliability credentials, and front-serviceable design.

Installation and Delivery

The entire installation including supply, mounting, controller programming, and CMS handover was completed in a single day.

The display is surface-mounted to the foyer wall using the Sharp-supplied 5×5 black powder-coated aluminium frame system. The finish is flush to the wall to ensure no visible cable runs or exposed hardware.

Front serviceability was a key specification requirement. In a public foyer environment, rear access to a wall-mounted display is not practical. The Sharp PRO N COB design allows any future maintenance to be performed from the face of the display, with no need to disturb the wall or surrounding fitout.

Content Management

Content is managed through Fusion Signage, allowing the client's internal team to schedule, update, and manage content remotely without requiring on-site technical support.

For an aged care provider with an active community calendar, operational independence means organisational messaging, event promotion, and branded visual content can all be updated in-house.

The Result

A Foyer That Works as Hard as the Team Behind It

The display transformed the foyer from a passive entry point into an active communications asset.

Since installation, the display has run a continuous mix of organisational messaging, event promotion, and branded visual content. During functions and community events, when the foyer accommodates larger audiences than usual, it has contributed a dimension that static signage could not provide.

The response from staff, residents, and families has been consistently positive. The display draws attention without feeling intrusive, in an aged care environment warmth and restraint are equally important.

“The display has completely changed the feel of our entry space. Families notice it immediately, and it gives us a genuinely flexible way to communicate with residents and visitors throughout the day. The installation was straightforward and the team clearly knew what they were doing.”
